Announcing for 2013. . .
"Building Skills for Member Care with Excellence"
Location: Hume Lake Christian Camps (65 Mi. E. of Fresno)
Sponsored by: Link Care Center; 1734 W. Shaw Ave; Fresno, CA 93711
Conference Theme: "When the Enemy Comes in like a flood..."
Development of the theme: We've all struggled with helping ourselves and others to keep a positive balance -- in a world where the incoming tide of evil seems overwhelming! How can we affirm healthy sexuality within God's prescription of marriage? Saying "No" to the bad and "Yes" to the good?
Like Mary's and my getting a Yellow Fever shot before going to Ghana a couple years ago, how may we inoculate our young missionaries against the lure of evil on the Internet -- both here at home and in the context of ministry overseas?
Why is this important? A 2010 survey found that 61 percent of Americans (the number is higher among young people) say they are addicted to the Internet. www.psychologytoday.com/.../technology-is-technology-the-new-op... We all agree -- the problem is serious.
Our Focus will include:
Helping our people be strong "When the enemy comes in like a flood..." and affects
Our selves -- spiritually, emotionally and relationally
Our families -- relationships, communication, spiritual direction
Our ministry teams -- division, conflict, God's blessing on our ministries
Our greatest resource: The rest of the verse says, "The Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him." (Isa. 59:19, KJV).
As we focus together on the specifics of member health as applied to our unique situations, there will be opportunity to network with each other and various Link Care staff.
Practical resources: Please bring your organization's policy statement if you have one, and are willing to share.
In addition, Brent Lindquist will be guiding our focus on "Good Practices" in the development of "Member Health."
