Gordon Glessner, M.A.
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist MFC 36479

I am an unexpected (at least to me) transplant from the rural Midwest. Growing up on a farm, I learned to work hard, and value nature and creativity.

But the farm wasn’t paradise. Expectations on the farm, especially from age 11 on, were often unreasonable, and it was very difficult to match those expectations.

As I look back now, the reasons for those expectations are fairly understandable. Still, I experienced a lot of self-contempt and sadness for a long time, and often exhausted myself in efforts to become “good enough.”

My developing faith did tons to help me heal over time—and for that I am very grateful.

But I also discovered therapy has a place. This was because the old message that I “could never be good enough” kept the encouragement I received from “sticking” very well.

When I eventually found a therapy that worked for me—one in which the healing stuck—I threw myself into learning how to use it, as well as therapies like it, to help my clients. This has been especially true after I came to Link Care, where I have been given lots of freedom to learn and develop as a therapist.

Seeing others gain the kind of healing that I received gratifies me. When the work clients do increases their ability to be a positive influence on others–whether on family members, co-workers, or—sometimes—people in distant places that I will never visit—I especially value playing a part.

I have a passion for learning. My desire is to do the best work I can—as quickly as reasonably possible—to help people discover the answers they need to move on with more happiness and without working so hard to be “good enough.”
